A BIT ABOUT OUR LIZARD LOGO, Aurelio: Aurelio's image comes from the Mimbres pottery, from the Anasazi (the ancient ones) culture in America's Southwest. His shape is the indicator of the spiral of life. The chevrons in the body are representative of the womb, and continual creation through the spiral of life. A lizard is a magical creature who can regrow a tail or leg and is considered to be a messenger from the unseen to the seen.
Definition of a Matrix: a situation or surrounding substance within which something originates, develops, or is contained. Folklore must be maintained in the matrix of the culture for some time before it is accepted as genuine. A diamond is created in a matrix of carbon; problems are solved within a matrix. Latin: matrix: A womb: the mother, the madre, the source.

Matrix Theatre Company uses the transformative power of original theatre
to change lives, build community, and foster social justice. It creates
opportunities for children, youth, adults and elders, especially those
in isolated or challenged communities, to become creators, producers and
audience of original theatre.

Matrix Theatre Company's plays are rooted in the vision, concerns, and
dreams of the neighborhood it serves. It uses the power of professional
original theatre to teach, transform and unite its community.
CREATIVITY
Creativity can open a mind to a new way of thinking, feeling, or expressing
oneself. Matrix Theatre Company helps people unleash the power of creativity
to not only change the world around them, but to gain a personal feeling
of openness often lost in day to day situations.
TRANSFORMATION
Original theatre speaks directly about the people who've written, performed,
produced, and seen the play. Theatre is a reflection of the society from
which the playwright comes. Matrix Theatre Company uses this power of
reflection to effect transformation at the personal, ecological, and community
level.
