Daniel C. Martinez

2001 Actor and scriptwriter at the Matrix Theatre for the play "Recuerrdos" adapted from Elena Herrada's documentary entitled "Repatriados." 2001/2002 Daniel qualified as a semi-finalist in the Newport Salsa Dance Competition in South Beach Florida, and has worked as freelance dance instructor with a focus on latin dance. 2010/2011 served on the board of   S.W.A.N. South West Artist Network. He is 2011 Graduate from Wayne State University, with a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature and a minor in Bilingual Education (Spanish). Since 2012 Daniel has taught Bilingual English for the Detroit Public Schools Community District's Western International High School. In 2022-2023 he collaborated with M.C.D.C. Mexicantown Community Development Corporation, to create: 1 of 4  Dia De Muertos community Ofrenda installation's. 2023/24 Daniel sat on a panel for the Detroit Institute of Arts Gallery Project, in efforts to garner community input on future exhibitions in the museum. Daniel is ecstatic and grateful for the opportunity to play the guitar and perform an original song for The Matrix Theatre Company's Solo Performance Show (summer 2024); as well as participate in an open mic "Poetic Portrayals" show 9/08/24. Daniel is a dedicated performer, community arts activist, and advocate within the cultural corridor on the US/Canadian international border in the heart of Southwest Detroit’s historic Mexican town community.
