Bear is a down-on-his-luck, “recovering” drug addict, whose life seemingly takes a turn for the better when he receives a surprise inheritance from his long-estranged father – a vacant, derelict house on Detroit’s eastside. In this gritty - yet heartfelt – comedy, we follow Bear on his journey and discover that things aren’t always as they appear to be, and family isn’t always something you can easily escape.

Director: Cassandra Svacha
Cassandra is a theatre-maker specializing in new works, devised theatre, adaptations, and musicals. In 2022 her collaborative show Hurricane Season took the Winners Circle Award and Audience Favorite Awards at the Collab 24 Devised Theatre Festival. Other Past works include Renaissance City Rep New Works Festival, Dry Powder, FWP, Love and Information, Feral, Beauty and the Beast, Once Upon a Mattress, and Oliver. Cassandra carries an MFA in Advance Theatre Practice from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, UK. Thank you to Amy, and Marisa at the Matrix, this great cast, crew, and Sean for this opportunity. Love to Jason and Teddy, who give me the best advantage in the world.
